Monaco Pavilion – Expo 2025 Osaka

The Monaco Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is a profoundly immersive and poetic homage to the synergy of nature, culture, innovation, and elegance—embodied by the evocative theme, “Take Care of Wonder.” Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of Jacques-Yves Cousteau—“We love what we marvel at, and we protect what we love”—the pavilion invites visitors on a sensorial journey rooted in environmental awareness and cultural harmony.

Architecturally and horticulturally, the pavilion masterfully merges Mediterranean and Japanese garden motifs, forming a tranquil yet striking landscape. Visitors step into the experience via a timeless stone pathway beneath an ancient olive tree, before exploring micro-landscapes blending regional flora and reinterpreted traditional Japanese aesthetics.

The building itself, crafted from reflective metal, harmonizes with its surroundings—enhancing natural light and visuals for a transformative experience.

Inside, the experience unfolds through multiple engaging zones:

  • Sensory and poetic installations featuring haiku—bridging Monegasque and Japanese traditions, enriching the narrative with a delicate balance of visual, auditory, and olfactory elements.

  • The Monaco Green Lab, where immersive storytelling around Monaco’s ecosystem, interactive consoles, and animated books depict the nation's long-standing environmental commitment, recalling the legacies of Prince Albert I and II.

  • Interactive installations such as Flowers for Bees, celebrating the importance of pollinators, and Human-Wildlife, inviting playful engagement with ecological themes.

  • The Cathedral: a mesmerizing tribute to the Mediterranean Sea, where marine life scenes dance across screens, enveloped in a dream-like atmosphere of light and motion.

Completing the experience, a wine-tasting lounge honors refined luxury—with grands crus wines and cognacs from the legendary Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, offering guests a sensory journey into the principality’s celebrated oenological heritage.

Throughout its six-month run, the pavilion stands as a vivid testament to Monaco’s dedication to sustainability, cultural dialogue, and multisensory storytelling—encouraging visitors to reflect: in taking care of the earth’s wonders, we ultimately care for human existence itself.
